I love when PBS is doing it's fundraising thing and they broadcast this movie! It's one of the few movies that got me into a book. Usually it's the other way around for me. I do hate what they did with the third movie though. The first two were so good and followed the books so well! But I thought the third movie messed up not only the story, but the whole feel of the books too.
Oh, the casting was perfect! I agree that the last was, romanticized? I loved the books, though I never did get through the entire series--I least I don't remember it. I loved the scene (book & PBS series) when the girls got drunk on the cordial.
ReplyDeleteAnne is my favorite movie ever. The books were good, but I didn't like it when they focused on the kids and not Anne.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's probably why they changed the last movie so much, but I wanted to see Anne's House of Dreams, not Anne going through war time drama. It just didn't fit the feel of any of LM Montgomery's books. And who didn't want to immediately travel to Prince Edward Island after seeing the movie? Still in my top five of places to see.
